Describe your family: One daughter, three sons, seven grandchildren and we are all nuts about each other.

What would you like people to know about you: I am very approachable, humble, respectful and down to earth.

After 13 years of employment, Barry Rossell’s response to tasks asked of him is, “We just got to get it done”. Mr. Rossell is flexible, dependable and a team player. He performs his tasks with a positive attitude. He is willing to help out in any area on Kirby’s campus. Family members and residents request him frequently and comment on how kind he is. We are proud that he is part of the Kirby team.

Describe Your Family: I am a mother of four, grandmother of 10 and great-grandmother of five.

What is something you are proud of: To have worked at Kirby Pines for 14 years.

Do you have a pet: A cat, Pantaliamon (Pan).

Do you have any hobbies or interests: Reading, listening to gospel music, gardening, and collecting angels.

What is your favorite thing about your job: The gratitude of our residents, telling me they love me and bringing smiles to their faces.

What is your favorite food: Catfish.

What would you like people to know about you: That I pray for us all each and every day and I try to help anyone I can.

Crystal Shoemaker always goes above and beyond to make sure things flow smoothly on the unit. She is a team player and is very observant of the residents and immediately notifies the charge nurse if any change is noticed. She is flexible and willing to go to any area she is needed. Crystal is happy to take on a special project to enhance the quality of care she gives her residents. We are so glad to have her as part of our team.

Rudy Selmon goes above and beyond the call of duty to support the department as well as our residents. He is thoughtful, precise and always a team player. He understands the importance of what we do for the residents of Kirby Pines. He is always willing to help another shift when staff is short and is happy to train or assist others as needed.

What is your favorite thing about your job: I love all of the residents. Victoria and Tania are the best managers ever.

Jeremy Richardson is dedicated to Kirby residents by providing exceptional service with a positive attitude. He arrives with a smile on his face every day. He has always made himself available to work additional shifts during this pandemic. Jeremy’s commitment to Caring in Place is unwavering. We are fortunate to have him on our team!

Do you have a pet: Yes, her name is Rorie. She is a golden retriever rescue.

What is your favorite thing about your job: Knowing that what I do truly helps and benefits the residents.

What would you like people to know about you: I am thankful for everything I have experienced. It has taught me valuable life lessons.

Martha Fitzhugh is a great asset to Kirby Pines. She always goes above and beyond to help residents, family members, staff, and vendors. Ensuring the residents and family members get the assistance they need. She has endeared herself to the residents by going out of her way to help, even if it isn’t her job to do what they need help with. Staff turn to her for guidance. It is a true pleasure to work with Martha.

Kamariee since day one has been an extremely caring and hardworking individual. She always seeks to give 100% in whatever she is
assigned to do. She is punctual and dependable. The residents appreciate her pleasant demeanor. Although this year has been a challenge, Kamariee’s positive attitude and team work has only increased. She finds the good in everything.

What do you do for fun: Shoot pool, play Call of Duty and chill with my family.

What would you like people to know about you: I am friendly and helpful.

During the pandemic, my department lost everyone except Michael. He was our only maintenance person to handle everything. He kept a positive and can-do attitude the entire time without missing a single day of work. Brian Forsman, his supervisor, says Michael is prompt, loyal, willing to help anybody and is always willing to learn new procedures to fix things. He has a great work ethic and we are happy to have him on our team.

Marq has been on the security team since May of 2019. He has a very good positive attitude while dealing with the residents, guests and employees. There are a few incidents that I can recall with Marq assisting residents. He was making rounds one night, when he heard someone call for help! He found a resident lying in the stairwell. He contacted the front desk to call 911 and stayed there with her until the ambulance arrived. We are happy to have him on our team.

What is something you are proud of: The person I’ve become.

What do you do for fun: Play the game or play basketball.

What is your favorite thing about your job: Hearing about coworker’s and resident’s backstories.

What would you like people to know about you: That I’m very laid back and I try to have fun every day.

Cory does a great job in The Bistro and is a very hard worker. He is extremely dedicated to his job and goes the extra mile. I have seen Cory working every task and cover every position we have with a smile on his face.
