Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician/Electrician provides maintenance and other assigned duties to ensure superior accommodations and customer service for the residents of Kirby Pines.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Using a variety of tools and equipment, the Maintenance Technician will complete repairs within residential apartments, health center rooms and Garden Homes
- Follow a scheduled program for repair, lubrication and overall upkeep on a variety of equipment from the preventative maintenance log sheets
- Assist Maintenance Director in renovation of existing apartments and homes in preparing them for new occupancy
- Assist with other duties like sheetrock work, plumbing, painting as well as minor electrical work, etc.
- Attend in-service seminars as needed and required to develop competency and maintain skills
- Perform any other task assigned by the Maintenance Director
- Communication skills must reflect caring and respect for the residents, families and other team members of Kirby Pines
- Must report to work on time as scheduled and outlined in the Employee Handbook
License/Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Graduate of an accredited technical school preferred
- Must have two (2) years equivalent of full time increasingly skilled maintenance work
Waitstaff/Server
Under the supervision of the Dining Room Manager, the Server is to courteously and professionally serve all residents and their guests’ meals in the dining rooms. Maintains a neat and orderly work area and informs their Supervisor of food needs and resident questions and concerns that they are unable to answer. Sets up, serves and breaks down special functions. Is a key person in public relations for the community due to the direct contact with the customer.
Essential Functions
- Is courteous, knowledgeable of menu, and professional at all times when serving a customer.
- Performs pre-opening and closing checklist duties as assigned by the Dining Room Manager.
- Sets tables and maintains work stations in proper order.
- Takes food/beverage orders and provides service to residents and guests in all dining venues.
- Assists in maintaining a high level of customer service for residents and their guests.
- Clears dishes from tables during and after meal service.
- Maintains safe and sanitary conditions of work areas.
- Maintains the department standards for personal hygiene and uniform guidelines.
- Completes all assigned cleaning tasks prior to the end of the shift.
- Follows all out-lined Policies and Procedures for the Dining Services Department.

Host/Hostess
- Reports to work as indicated on the work schedule and in the correct uniform. Practices positive personal hygiene and cleanliness habits during all work shifts.
- Correctly completes all opening and side work duties of the hostess/host at the start of the shift, in a timely manner.
- Assists the Dining Room Manager in planning reservations and assigning parties to appropriate tables, stations and/or servers.
- Immediately recognizes and greets arriving Guests, obtains Guests’ names, provides names to servers and directs guests to the appropriate waiting areas.
- Escorts Guests to their assigned table.
- Controls the flow of business by practicing rotation seating, anticipating table turns and following the reservation and seating plan.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the hostess/host stand and waiting area throughout the shift.
- Monitors and enforces social distancing requirements in waiting areas as dictated by state and local social distancing regulations.
- Communicates to the Dining Room Manager any and all situations where a Guest may express concern or dissatisfaction with any aspect of the dining experience.
- Addresses any residents/guest complaints.
- Completes all closing duties in a timely manner.

Essential Duties

Steward/Dishroom
The Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for assisting in the efficient daily operations and related activities associated with Dining Services for Kirby Pines.
Primary Duties
- Must receive kitchenware and table ware into dish room; prepare and stack dishes and utensils to be loaded into dishwasher; return clean dishes and utensils to their proper place
- Must show competency in operation of equipment and in a safe manner; following all safety rules according to Kirby Pines Estates
- Must complete daily maintenance of dish room equipment, set up dish room, fill and drain machine as needed and maintain clean filters
- Must ensure that proper handling and cleaning methods are followed and are in compliance with State of Tennessee and manufactures guidelines
- Must assure disposal of trash to proper outside containers and maintain cleanliness of trash receptacles
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties to assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the dining department
- Must be willing to substitute in other kitchens as needs and requested by Supervisor
- Must be courteous and considerate at all times
Qualifications

Security Guard
Individual is needed for an unarmed, full-time security guard 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Valid Tennessee security license required. Need good verbal and people skills, professional appearance and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Duties include foot patrols, activity set-ups, and emergency response. Kirby Pines is a smoke-free property.
