We would like to congratulate Kirby Pines Resident, Col. Hugh Evins Wardlaw, Jr., for receiving the French Legion of Honor Medal, presented by the French Consul General, Dr. Dalle on March 22, 2014. In November of 1940 he was inducted Federal Service, Pvt., Co. L, 155 Infantry, 31st Division moving up the ranks throughout his life, retiring as Colonel, 3248 Logistics Cmd “C”, Memphis, TN, US Army Reserves. He participated in several campaigns and battles from 1943 to 1945 and recieved the following decorations and citations; Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Campaign with 5 Battle Stars and Invasion Arrowhead, French Croix De Guerre (Fourragere) with Palm and the Presidential Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster.
